​STRENGTH . FOCUS . FLEXIBILITY

​Kids in Motion began as an after-school program in 1977,  and now includes two Saturday morning classes and a summer program. It is an introductory program with various genres, including modern dance, jazz, and ballet technique. The Saturday classes, held at Colorado College Athletic Building, September-April, have limited availability. The students perform in three shows in April at different locations in the community, including The Citadel.  Many students have benefited from this program through the intellectual stimulation that movement and music offer.

Beth Carlson
​Founder & Supervisor

Beth is the driving force behind Kids in Motion. She is an educator, dancer, and passionate advocate of the arts. She has enjoyed dance since her mother introduced her to it in Kansas City at age four. Following her dad’s career moves meant a few studios, culminating in an Afro-Caribbeandance company in Colorado Springs as a young adult. After completing degrees in education, the challenge of giving underserved children a performing arts experience became a goal. She began the Kids in Motion program as an after-school activity in 1977. The program combines her skills as a teacher with her passion for dance to teach strength, focus, and flexibility.​
